We photographed this Double-crested Cormorant as we walked along the Mission Bay Park trail near our hotel, the Dana, in San Diego, late in the afternoon of March 1, 2009. This western breeding adult is sporting two white tuffs on either side of its head behind its eyes (tuffs are black and less conspicious in eastern birds). Temperatures were in the low 70's with partly cloudy skies and a pleasant breeze.
